This is the Statt Mann Baby. Time to Scatt a little bit.
I’m loving all this new technology entering motor racing.
At the Daytona 500 this week there was fascination with a new camera that was fractions of millimeters thin. Television flashed to it Sunday to get a real driver’s eye view of the racing in the windshield.
There was also a look at a rear-view camera to expand what a driver could see with the rear-view mirror.
For me, little advancements like this make racing really worthwhile. We need to get more of this technology from the race track into our drive ways.
To me, horsepower races are a challenge in a world where winters are disappearing along with global forests, the lungs of the world.
It would be nice if the racing industry could lead the transitions that are necessary to maintain the world as we know it. Short of that, we’ll be fighting opponents of the sport we love.
Those opponents are willing to throw the baby and it’s driving suit out with the bath water. And there’s not enough of us to fight off that drain.
Peace.
