This is the Statt Mann Baby. Time to Scatt a little bit…
Life got in the way of the Rolex 24 this weekend. But I was able to focus on things I’ll never forget.
That GTD Pro fight in the last half hour was something to write home about. Two Porsche factory drivers battling in Porsches for the win with the Checkered Flag around the corner; you don’t get better than that.
The fender banging finally took out Laurens Vanthoor, giving the win to Mathieu Jaminet on the last lap of a 24-hour race. It was captivating.
The battle for the overall win was nearly as close. But Helio Castroneves held off Ricky Taylor in the end. The victory gave Meyer Shank Racing the 60th Rolex 24 win to go along with the 50th win the team earned ten years ago.
Big disappointment though to lose the entire race behind so many pay walls. Had to have cable to see all but the start and finish. Then the overnight was behind another pay wall on NBC’s Peacock streaming service.
What I think about that isn’t polite.
Peace.
