This is the Statt Mann Baby!! Time to Scatt a little bit.
Bob Snodgrass and I weren't close friends. I was one of the media millions he tolerated during a legendary career as President and CEO at Brumos Racing.
The first time we met we sat in his motor coach and just talked about our experiences and who we knew. The best part was the mutual respect of two men who made a mutual decision to invite each other into a portion of their lives.
Bob gave me his cell and invited me to call anytime. He made himself available to this forum several times, even apologizing once when he was out of cell range at a racetrack and couldn't call us.
Snodgrass was a sports car racing icon in the U.S. and Europe. His white, number 59 Porsches took Peter Gregg to many race wins and championships. He's in the Walk of Fame at Daytona. He won six Daytona Prototype championships in Grand Am.
And he tolerated me.
For that, he'll always be remembered after this death this week. We're told it was a peaceful passage at his home in Jacksonville at the age of 64.
I'm just glad I had a chance to talk with a legend as he passed this way.
Peace, Bob. Peace.
