Evidently It Gets Cold When The Sun Goes Down

Some of you objected a couple weeks ago when I called Formula One a Clown Show. Now, the web is filling with stories that F1 leadership had no idea it gets cold when the Las Vegas sun goes down in November.

One website said that leadership was concerned about drivers becoming overwhelmed with desert heat like they were when the series raced in Qatar a month ago. That won’t be a problem next week in Vegas.

For example, last night when the green flag was scheduled to drop next Saturday, the temperature in Las Vegas was in the low 40s. I’ve been at rallies in the Southwestern desert when temperatures would fall 40
degrees after sundown and people from the East Coast were turning blue.

The record November low in Las Vegas is 21 degrees but that was back in 1958. You know, before climate change. And there are reports no one checked on this when they considered the race a couple years ago.

A tweet this week reported ten thousand unsold seats for next weekend. I guess few want to spend a thousand dollars to sit on a metal bench in near freezing temperatures.

But don’t worry, it’s a dry cold.
