This is the Statt Mann Baby. Time to Scatt a little bit.
What if I said watch for GM offering Cadillac as its NASCAR brand starting in 2026. An old story that won’t go away.
Right now, GM races its Chevrolet brand in the Cup Series. They call them Camaros even though they look nothing like a showroom Camaro. But GM has said it’s doing away with the Camaro this year.
And last week it said it’s doing away with the Malibu brand in Chevrolet. The Malibu was the last sedan in the shrinking Chevrolet showroom. Chevrolet has its old generic SS brand it could dust off and return to NASCAR.
Now, though, GM’s performance division is slinging Corvettes and Cadillacs in IMSA and the World Endurance Championship. And it’s trying to push Cadillac into F1 from what we hear.
That leaves the Cadillac. It already has a performance brand, the Black Wing, for its sedans and reports are that branding attracts younger buyers.
And there was a rumor recently that GM has a car in wind tunnel testing.
If I was a gambler, I’d put my money on Cadillac being GM’s next brand in NASCAR. Sure would bring a new audience to the sport, and isn’t that what this is all about anyway?
Peace.
