This is the Statt Mann Baby!! Time to Scatt a little bit.
There are motor racing opportunities out there even as we watch the industry devolve before our eyes.
This week I was talking with a friend who knows much more than me, and we created a scenario where a sportsman with cash could get into the major leagues of NASCAR Cup racing easier now than at any time in the past two decades.
There’s lots of good equipment at deep discounts these days. Teams are disappearing so there’s a need for someone to fill the 43 car fields next year.
Good drivers with money are willing to pay for rides to get seen.
HUGE purses remain meaning you could make a business out of running a few laps, getting fifty or sixty thousand dollars or more then going home 36 times a year.
Even a plain wrap sponsorless team could create an income stream with that model in Cup. It wouldn’t work in Nationwide or the Camping World Trucks. The purses aren’t big enough.
True, some of those business models have failed in the past few weeks, but it doesn’t mean it’s not a viable model if the goals are defined and you don’t depend on other people’s money to make it work.
With this current economy and cheap resources on the marketplace, it’s never been easier for someone to get on the NASCAR Cup merry-go-round.
Peace.
