This is the Statt Mann Baby!! Time to Scatt a little bit.
The NHRA once again shows its ability to see beyond the grandstands.
This week the National Hot Rod Association announced the NHRA Worldwide Network, enabling drag racing facilities around the world to conduct events under the NHRA banner.
The first track to be associated with the program is currently being built within the Yas Marina Circuit, the track where the Abu Dhabi F1 race was run last year.
In fact, Don Schumacher Racing this weekend announced a partnership with the Yas Marina Drag Strip where Schumacher Racing will see a couple Top Fuel Teams based in the UAE.
This means the NHRA has positioned itself to be the leader of drag racing growth worldwide. It’s rules already govern the FIA’s expansion into international drag racing.
This is a financial plus for the NHRA, an organization that was looking for help, even a buyer, within the last three years.
Forward thinking hasn’t always been a hallmark of the NHRA or American racing in general. But, now, someone is willing to say there’s something out there beyond the horizon and we want to be a part of its development.
An original thought in American racing gives us hope for the future.
Peace.
