This is the Statt Mann Baby. It's time to Scat a little bit.

If there can be dignity in Team Orders, Ford might have found it Sunday at Rally France.

Jari-Matti Latvala spent the day spanking teammate Mikko Hirvonen and nearly everyone else in the rally. Latvala had won or tied for the win in the three tests leading to the 23rd and last stage in the three day event.

Latvala was fourth in the event and fourth in the WRC standings.  But his teammate Mikko Hirvonen was second in the standings and needed the points to battle with seven-time defending champion and points leader Sebastien Loeb.

Loeb was out of Rally France because of an engine problem leaving the door open for Hirvonen to gain ground. But Hirvonen wasn't responding to the challenge. He was fifth on the French tarmac, a surface that doesn’t give him great comfort.

So without asking Latvala to stop on the last stage so Hirvonen could pass and take over fourth, Latvala took a two minute penalty for entering a control early. The penalty allowed Latvala and Hirvonen to swap positions in the rally.

Latvala went on to win the last televised stage by more than two seconds and Hirvonen got his points.

And the team orders were executed with dignity, if that's possible.

Peace.
