This is the Statt Mann Baby. It’s time to Scatt a little bit.
It’s been an incredible month for two-time DTM champion Mattias Ekstrom of Sweden.
Some of you might recognize the name from a couple NASCAR Sprint Cup races he ran with little success. And you might recognize him from the three Race of Champions titles he has on his resume.
In the past month Ekstrom has finished fourth in the Global Rallycross Round in Munich. He was second in the FIA European Rallycross round in Sweden, the biggest event in that series.
Sunday, he won the DTM race in Nuremberg on the Norisring street circuit jumping him into fifth place in the DTM championship.
BUT, that win was taken away because officials said someone poured water in his pockets illegally. Racers know that’s a way to add weight to the driver if there might be a problem with the post race weigh-in.
The win was given to the Mercedes team that finished second. Audi said it will appeal the official exclusion. Now it’s up to the lawyers to decide a race already decided on the track.
By the way, it was Ekstrom’s 35th birthday Sunday. Happy Birthday.
Peace.
