This is the Statt Mann, Baby. It’s time to Scatt a Little Bit…

If you’re listening to SpeedFreaks you’re probably aware of the Jeremy Clarkson/Top Gear story. Clarkson’s an older guy who let his arrogance get the best of him leading to some bad decisions. He was sacked and the world’s most popular television show, seen by more than half a billion people a week, could follow.

Another of the world’s most popular television shows, the Formula One race broadcasts, could also be threatened by some poor decisions by old guys in the UK.

F1 czar Bernie Ecclestone has killed the German Grand Prix because he can basically. Bernie acknowledged in a Q&A this week that there are problems in F1. But in the diagnosis that followed, apparently Bernie didn’t see a mirror in the room.

Now, Ron Dennis, the head of McLaren Racing, is holding his ground on a report surrounding an accident that sidelined two time world champion Fernando Alonso. Alonso was hospitalized after the accident. He says it was a steering problem. Dennis says his car didn’t fail.

Old powerful guys normally get their way in these cases. At least that’s what Clarkson thought. Let’s see if Ecclestone and Dennis play their hands better.

After all, what’s the point of listening to a billion television fans about anything?

Peace.
