This is the Statt Mann Baby. Time to Scatt a little bit.
For years we’ve heard about motor racing’s problem getting buy in from young people.
The average age of the audience is getting a year older every year. Sure things like supercross and Monster Trucks appeal to kids but they’re the exception instead of the rule these days.
But let me throw out something that might turn that around. What about a Kids Day where the idea is just fun with the sport in the background?
The U.S. Open Tennis tournament had the Arthur Ashe Kids Day Saturday at the USTA Tennis Center in New York.
There were bands, rock stars, DJs, skills demonstrations, giveaways, singing, clapping, noise and fun.
When’s the last time you went to a motor race and fun broke out?
I was at an ARCA race once and a DJ was playing music before the race but it was aimed at the parents and not the kids.
If this is happening, I don’t know about it. Just a fun day for kids at a motor race.
Don’t you think if it was fun, they’d want to come back?
Peace.
