This is the Statt Mann  Baby.  Time to Scatt a little bit.

Several NHRA Pro Stock teams are busy testing changes mandated in the category this year.

The biggest change is a switch from carburetors to electronic fuel injection.  There’s also a mandated 10,500 rpm limit on the engines. Also gone are the huge scoops on the hood and shorter wheelie bars at the back of the car.

Shane Gray, Gray Motorsports, was the first team to hit the track.  He came away saying the new rules will force teams to go through some deep learning curves. He said the changes will force drivers to change the way they stage the cars as well as tune and race them.

Gray said his first tests produced slower times but that should go away as the tuning and his confidence improves.

Two-time defending champion Erica Enders Stevens and her new teammate Jeg Couglin will test their new Mopar Darts in Phoenix in more than two weeks. Those tests will lead up to the start of the season at the Winternationals February 11th.

Changes in the factory hot rods. Look forward to them.

Peace.
