Kurt Busch has been the most consistent in the Chase races with a first, two fifths, a sixth and a fourth last night in Charlotte.  He leads the Chase by 24 points over Dale Earnhardt, Jr.  Curious that 24 point lead after a 25 point profanity penalty on Junior but that’s another issue, isn’t it?

Under the old points system, however, Jeff Gordon would be leading Dale Jr. by one point.  Wouldn’t that be a great drama to watch unfold!  In the old system, Kurt Busch would be third nearly 150 points back and a near after thought in the championship picture this late in the season.

Halfway down the home stretch we’re learning that something that wasn’t broke was fixed!!

I’d say hands will still be wringing when this Chase is done.
