Even if the NASCAR off-season lasts the customary 36 hours, there’s only one story worth following in the coming months. 

International Mega Money Man George Gillett is the principle behind Richard Petty Motorsports.  Gillett, though, is working on a deal to marry NASCAR style stock car racing to the Mideast.  We’re told talks are underway with Saudi Prince Faisal.

The talks with the Saudi Prince started when Gillett offered his interests in the soccer club Liverpool, part of the Premier League and one of the top soccer brands in the world.

But in those talks, Gillett and The Prince found out they have some common racing interests including NASCAR.  Now we’re told that the Prince may not only buy part of Richard Petty Motorsports, the two men might build some oval tracks in the Mideast AND start NASCAR style racing in that part of the world.

I wonder how Muslim ownership will fly the NASCAR garage and how many tongues will have to be filtered when Middle Eastern realities show up at the front gate.
