This is the Statt Mann  Baby.  Time to Scatt a little bit.

I had several conversations with Formula Drift officials and drivers last week. I found myself lodging the opinion that the sport needs some new winners or new names in the headlines.

I believe that in all racing the entertainment value is diminished when the same people win every event.  Where’s the drama in that?

Chelsea DenofaWell I got my wish in the Formula D opener this weekend in Long Beach.  A really cool guy who used to work in television production won in constant rain on super slippery streets.

Chelsea Denofa used to deliver pizzas before he turned the car into a drift machine.  He’s been competing for five years in the season opener at Long Beach before getting the win.

Can he keep winning?  That’s not important really.  He won Saturday and beat three former champions on his way to the victory.  In short, it wasn’t a fluke.

The rain did equalize things but maybe Chelsea’s experience getting your pizza there in 30 minutes or less in any kind of weather gave him a headstart on the other guys who just worried about their sponsors and their spotlight and little else.

Peace. This is the Statt Mann  Baby.  Time to Scatt a little bit.
