This is the Statt Mann Baby. It's time to Scatt a little bit.

For those of you who don’t understand, you always equate sports car racing with wine sipping and cheese tasting.

Well, at Road America Saturday there wasn’t a lot of either. But that’s the epicenter of brats and beer. And the final lap of the ALMS race Saturday was about brats and beer.

There was wheel to wheel racing. Mistakes, brilliance and good old fashioned horsepower created a finish that separated first and second by a record close .083 of a second.

And the team that won, Guy Smith behind the wheel of the Dyson Racing Lola, had to pass the guy who finished second, Lucas Luhr of Muscle Milk Racing, in the final 100 yards of a four hour race. Take a look:

What a stunning finish. Luhr was fastest.  The Muscle Milk team came from three laps or 12 miles down to taste victory before having it snatched away by Smith at the checkered flag.

But being fast and being the hard charger aren’t what you get the brats and beer for. You get them for winning. And it was Dyson Racing and its Mazda turbo power that got that done.

Eighty-three hundredths of a second. Sip that naysayers.

Peace.
