This is the Statt Mann Baby. Time to Scatt a little bit.
The NASCAR season isn’t a month old but we’re seeing changes in the sport.
People are still talking about the three-wide finish at Atlanta where Daniel Suarez got his second win in dramatic fashion. Suarez was a 40-1 shot before outrunning two former champions for his second career victory.
Rajah Caruth won the Truck Series race from the Pole in Las Vegas Friday night. It was his first series win. Caruth is only the third African American in more than 60 years to win a NASCAR national series race.
And we’ve heard the Andretti name a lot in the past couple years but now Marco Andretti, Michael’s son, has turn to stock cars. He raced 15 years in IndyCar but this year he’ll race fourteen ARCA and seven NASCAR truck races.
Might be good for his career racing that often in 2014.
Lots of changes in NASCAR. Some of it’s because the sports largest names are moving on and new names are stepping in to replace them. Even Daytona 500 winner William Byron was a Cup Series Rookie of the Year in 2018. Now he has 11 wins in the series.
Now if we could only get the races and the calendar shortened.
Peace.
