This is the Statt Mann Baby!! Time to Scatt a little bit.
I had a long conversation the other day with the son of racing icon Jack Roush.
Jack Junior knows what every son knows. It’s hard to live up to Dad’s legacy no matter who Dad is.
Jack drives a Mustang in the Grand Am KONI Challenge series.
He’s overcoming some rookie mistakes even driving through the field a couple times to turn the car over to his co-driver in the top ten, even in first place in one race.
But Jack’s not just mooching off of Dad’s racing notoriety. He won several championships in karting when he was a child. He’s done some drag racing, but most of all he’s created a family and is in the midst of building an internet software business.
If you’ve used a website’s search feature, you probably used some software created in Jack Junior’s web business.
What stood out, though, was Jack talking about Dad’s visits with his granddaughter. Yes, the Cat in the Hat melts when Jack Junior’s little girl smiles at him. Just like a Granddad’s supposed to do.
Even when racing’s the family business, there’s still family to build. And NASCAR’s Jack Roush knows family in addition to winning races and championships.
Maybe that’s what makes it easy to cheer for Father and Son.
Peace.
