This is the Statt Mann Baby. Time to Scatt a little bit.

Rallying’s dramatic craziness was on full display Sunday in the Croatia Rally.

The cars were on their way to start the final day. But while on the untimed transit road section, seven-time champion Sebastian Ogier was involved in an accident while changing lanes on a normal boulevard with civilian traffic.

Law enforcement responded. Everyone was okay. In the confusion, a local police officer tried to stop him as Ogier was leaving the scene. He drove off anyway, his car needing a good tape job later. An FIA official allowed the car to continue.

21 Croatia Ogier

There’s You Tube video of all of this.

Even more drama on the final 14 kilometer Power Stage where Ogier made up nearly four seconds over Toyota teammate Elyfn Evans to win the stage and the entire event by six-tenths of a second over Evans.

The win elevated Ogier to the points lead in the WRC. But normally a violation in a transit section brings a time penalty.
As they say in broadcasting, stay tuned.

Peace.
