This is the Statt Mann Baby. It’s time to Scatt a little bit.
This summer will be fifty years since Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have A Dream” Speech at a Washington, DC rally. Monday we’ll celebrate his birthday with a national holiday.
It’s easy to compartmentalize Dr. King if we keep him a Dreamer. But that ignores the hard work, dedication and life he gave to bring about change in contemporary culture.
It’s hard work that makes dreams come true. Hard work brings about cultural changes.
For example, in a motor racing perspective it was hard work that brought a drag racing championship to Antron Brown last season.
Before that it was hard work that brought Supercross championships to James Stewart.
All of that said, it’s just hard to believe that fifty years of hard work hasn’t resolved the championship dreams of more African American racers.
Makes you wonder about the content of the character in the people they’re racing against, with, for, or on behalf of.
Still, it’s the hard work that resolves dreams. Ask Antron or James how much hard work it took them to satisfy their dreams. And whether or not it was worth it to them.
Peace.
