This is the Statt Mann Baby. It's time to Scat a little bit.

Mazda's effort at Mazda Raceway Saturday was like solving a Sudoku puzzle in ink without an eraser. Everything fell into place.

First, Dyson Racing in a Lola Mazda won the LMP1 category championship with one race to go in the season. Drivers Guy Smith and Chris Dyson weren't the fastest on the season just the steadiest.

The Muscle Milk team that finished second in the championship in the Aston Martin actually won four races on the year. That's compared to just two race wins for Smith and Dyson. But Mazda says its battle cry is “Never Give Up!” and that's how the season went for Dyson.

Even the inaugural race at Baltimore was won by another team under the Dyson umbrella. But here's how the season went: one of the two drivers on that team has only been driving professionally for two years. And at Baltimore, he'd never driven on a street course before.

Remember, ink and no eraser!

This weekend Dyson actually finished second at Mazda Raceway but that second place gave Dyson Racing the driver, team and manufacturer's title for Mazda. On Mazda's home track… on a weekend when it blew up the engine the afternoon before the race.  Still, the crew changed it in 80 minutes.

Ink and no eraser!

This is the first IMSA manufacturer's championship for Mazda since the RX-7 won the GTO title 20 years ago.
And it came with a Never Give Up attitude.

Ink and no eraser…

Peace.
