This is the Statt Mann Baby!! Time to Scatt a little bit.
Once again, maybe the best motorsports promotion on the planet is largely ignored in the U.S. The Race of Champions this week saw the U.S. team of Tanner Foust and Travis Pastrana finish third in The Nations Cup competition.
Tanner even won the first round in the individual Race of Champions format and beat Michael Schumacher in the Nations Cup round. Go look up these bits of drama.
This is to make a macroeconomic point as it applies to the world of motor racing.
The last thirty years of War on the American Middle Class has seen our jobs shipped off shore in a bit of insanity meant to strengthen our economy, or so we’re told.
Many would argue that the answer is to draw up the bridge, suck our economic thumbs and only do business with ourselves.
But, in a world economy we need to do business with the world. So, if American racing is to thrive, we must compete on the world stage.
Instead of watching our racing turn fetal, why don’t we expand our horizons? A simple start: pay attention to a REAL international Race of Champions.
And take the thumbs out of our racing mouths.
Peace.
