This is the Statt Mann Baby. It's time to Scatt a little bit.
On this Father’s Day I’m reminded of a Father’s Day weekend I spent with my Dad years ago at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
He didn’t share my passion for motor racing but I invited him anyway. I got my genetic predisposition for photography and image creation from him. He was a master.
We went to the backside at Mid-Ohio. I think they call it Thunder Valley now. It’s turns four through seven. It’s where the cars go slow enough to create some passing at a highly technical track.
It was fun watching him get into the moment. He had no idea what he was shooting. Knew nothing about open wheel cars. Knew nothing about what was happening on the track. But he knew how to tell stories with images and, eventually, he got the shot of the pass for the win.
I thought about that when I was at Mid-Ohio recently. I sent a cameraman to the same area and he also got the pass for the win.
Daddy rolled like that. Happy Father’s Day…
Peace.
