This is the Statt Mann, Baby. It’s time to Scatt a Little Bit…
Here’s more ammunition for those of you who tire of arguments that start: “Formula One is so boring. There’s never any passing!”
Today’s race in Germany saw 2008 F1 champion Lewis Hamilton start from 20th on the grid because of pre-race repairs after an accident yesterday in qualifying.
Nico Rosberg, Hamilton’s Mercedes teammate and challenger for this year’s title, won the race with ease. But Hamilton drove through the field to finish third; from 20th to third. He was closing on second but, as you can imagine, his tires were gasping for air and the race ended before he could make the pass.
The great drive didn’t help his title hopes though. Hamilton is now 14 points down to Rosberg in the championship. He was four points back when the lights went out to start the race in Hockenheim Sunday.
In high school wrestling you get points for near pins. You used to get points for dominating an opponent. I think it was called riding time.
After watching Hamilton’s drive today you almost wish he could get points for dominating a race that ended before he could win it. It was a champion’s effort whether he wins the title or not.
Peace.
