This is the Statt Mann Baby!! Time to Scatt a little bit.
This has been a week of such enormous history.
In my mind, the passing of Bill France is only topped by his funeral service.
The man who blew up NASCAR was put to rest in a historically black college founded by a woman born to slaves. Mary McLeod Bethune once had a book snatched from her hands and was told she wasn’t allowed to read. She not only learned to read, she started a University to teach others.
Congratulations NASCAR, this is the kind of quiet diversity that can break down so many barriers.
Incredible history!
Then I’m watching Saturday night’s IRL broadcast from Texas only to see a promo for Sunday’s Champ Car broadcast from Portland. It’s past time to end the split when it becomes a commodity for sale. Guys, your egos are killing the sport! Doesn’t anyone care?
Then Sunday’s Lewis Hamilton win at the Canadian Grand Prix to become the first black man to win a Formula One race. He’s never been off the podium in his young F1 career. And it comes the week before he must race in the USGP in America, the world’s media center.
Just enormous history this week. I hope you didn’t miss it playing in your forums.
Peace.
