This is the Statt Mann Baby. Time to Scatt a little bit.
I need to be careful how I say this.
First, Mercedes got its first F1 win of the season, a one-two finish with George Russell getting his first career win. Seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton was second.
But the background says a lot. Hamilton tangled with his bitter rival Max Verstappen during the race. In short, Verstappen and his team said Hamilton should have moved out of his way.
Officials thought so much of the Max attack they gave him a five second penalty for diving under Hamilton’s Mercedes causing contact.
Then later, Mad Max refused to follow team orders so teammate Sergio Perez could pass him and get needed points in his battle for second place in the championship. Perez is now tied with Ferrari’s Charles LeClerc with one race left.
Mad Max got on the radio and told his team he wouldn’t give way and quote: “don’t ask me again.”
Seems like everyone should get out of Verstappen’s way especially if you’re a non-white driver from Britain or Mexico. For Max, team or, even, cooperation, means nothing.
Just get out of his way.
The sport’s too small for that attitude.
Peace.
