We’ve all been blown away by Marco Andretti who came within 300 yards of winning this year’s Indy 500.

Less than 18 months ago, in March of 2005, The Freaks talked with Marco at Sebring where he was making the transition into the Star Mazda Series. Little did we know then that shy little kid would be fighting for an Indy win the following season.

This weekend, though, Marco follows his Indy fling by qualifying THIRD at the Watkins Glen road course. In the rain!!

Today he drove like finishing second at Indy was the fluke. He should have won the thing!

But in Marco’s shadow was another great run. Nelson Phillipe got his first podium by finishing third in the Champ Car race in Milwaukee.

Nelson’s recovering from several years of frustration learning how to be a man in the Champ Car series. Now he has resources and experience to indicate today’s third wasn’t a fluke.

Nelson and Marco. Both are 19 for several weeks with futures blowing up in front of them. Wouldn’t it be nice to see them go head to head. SOON!
