This is the Statt Mann Baby!! Time to Scatt a little bit.
This is what happens when sport gets confused with entertainment. Sport is merit. Entertainment is box office.
Merit won't change anything if the wrong guy wins. Entertainment can orchestrate the right guy winning.
Lewis Hamilton drove from 18th to 4th in Australia last week. The first inclination was to award him third when he was passed illegally on the race track. That’s merit.
Then four days later, someone said he lied about all that and he was written from the race. That’s entertainment.
Since Lewis Hamilton had the temerity to win the (F1) World Driving Championship five months ago, F1 leadership has suggested changing the way points are scored. Now, short of that, they found a way to just take the points.
Lewis is the champion, for crying out loud, not some class clown.
Three years ago, officials believed Michael Schumacher when he said he accidently spun on Monaco’s narrow streets taking a possible pole from the faster Fernando Alonso.
Lewis does something –something the radio indicates his team told him to do – and the sport is turned upside down.
Merit versus entertainment. You fought for this so if you want to protest, call a box office.
Peace.
