Friday (really Wednesday)…My weekend started way early with a drive up to Fresno, CA as it would be my home base for four days. Wednesday in Tulare, CA, I was anchored in the pits and infield of Tulare County Fairgrounds for the Lucas Oil Sprint Car series. Not the oil wrestling. Good times covering some of the baddest cats on dirt. Really, these dudes and women are some of the gnarliest pilots in any business. That night, Tim Kaeding, in a part time Roth Motorsports ride, takes the checkered. But the real surprise is Kyle Larson filling the seat of champion Jason Johnson. You WILL hear from Kyle again.
Thursday and Friday…A couple of days away from the track glad-handing some radio affiliates, a jaunt to the Sequoia National Forest and Yosemite National Park. This sh** is this sh**. Come spend your tax dollars in our parks. Bridal Veil Falls was so killer it was laughable. While strolling the back woods, I was snorkeling on an orange amber IPA 395 and some candied Boston Baked Beans. Yep. Breakfast of Freaks.
Saturday…Back at the track but a little further south by southwest of Fresno at King Speedway in Hanford, CA. Same culprits in the Lucas Oil Sprint Car series but this time a larger, flatter track and sh** was about to go off the rails. Shane Stewart had to fight his way into the main and lil' Kyle Larson was on the pole next to…Kaeding. It was soon into the race that the Kaeding n' Roth Motorsports set-up was not right. Larson dominated the full 30 laps, dodging some nasty-ass pot holes in 1 and 3. He was always ahead of the flips, trips and dips of those behind him. Cats in roll bars were tumbling like a bad Boy George ballad. Don't miss this race or the Tulare take down when they arrive on Versus and MavTV.
Sunday…I'm not sure where it comes from but the moons aligned quite nicely Sunday night for another spec-freakin-tacular live radio show. CJ Wilson from the Texas Rangers, Bud Shootout winner Kurt Busch, Houston SX winner Trey Canard, NASCAR Trucks Jeffrey Earnhardt and NHRA's Allen Johnson all were part of the @Legendous show. Pick up a 6'er of PBR, a fat King Edwards and take in this extravaganza @ Listen Now You Sum'bitch.
The show recap: Kurt Busch got lippy, CJ was on the 405, AJ is pissed, Trey may think twice before coming back into the Freak Nation and Earnhardt knows where the women are.
The 'tona 500 looks to be a monster this year. A big, filthy, gut callin', rad n' gnarlified Sunday afternoon feature. That's a good thing. And you'll be able to taste it with the Freaks Sunday night at 7pm PST, 10pm EST.
