This is the Statt Mann Baby. Time to Scatt a little bit.
I’ve been asking questions about the Extreme E series. Next year’s schedule features one race in the Middle East, two in Europe and two in the Americas.
All point out climate change and its effect on the places where the series races.
First, there’s only five races. That keeps costs down.
All the races are streamed live. Sponsors like that.
Technology is advancing. A Formula 1 team is working on the batteries. A Texas company is developing hydrogen fuel cells to power the grid and paddock. An American shock company is bringing off-road technology to the active suspensions used on the spec cars.
I’m told a lot of this technology could wind up in our drive ways.
And crews are few. Teams like that making the series a place to research and develop electrification technology for showrooms globally.
Pull the curtain back. Americans are getting involved.
It’s never going to be as big as NASCAR but don’t be surprised if NASCAR doesn’t dip into the technology pool of Extreme E as it grows in the 21st century.
Peace.
