Legendary heavy metal frontman Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead is dead at the age of 70. An announcement was made Monday evening on the official Facebook page for the British band. It read in part: “There is no easy way to say this…our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer.” The post went on to say Kilmister only learned of the disease Saturday. The report said Lemmy was at home with his family. The post concludes, “Born to lose, lived to win.”
Ian Fraser “Lemmy” Kilmister turned 70 on Christmas Eve. He was known for is distinctive gravelly voice and his mutton chops. He was a founding member of Motorhead and was a frontman on one of the band’s biggest hits, Ace of Spades.
