There was a big shadow on the NASCAR Championship Weekend in Phoenix Sunday. Hours after his son won the NASCAR Xfinity Championship Saturday night, Coy Gibbs, Ty Gibb’s father, died. The Gibbs’ Family said Coy didn’t wake up Sunday morning. He died in his sleep. In the middle of all the celebration over the Joey Logano championship and race win, many of the Cup drivers paused to remember a critically important figure in their industry.
