This is the Statt Mann Baby!! Time to Scatt a little bit.
Great Formula One race today in Turkey. Felipe Massa won his third Turkish GP in a row. Lewis Hamilton was second as they battled all afternoon. Points leader Kimi Raikkonen completed the podium.
But the real spectacle began on the SPEED pre-race show. Especially enlightening was learning more on what appears to be a souring relationship between McLaren and last year’s darling of F1 Lewis Hamilton.
McLaren boss Ron Dennis threw Hamilton under the bus expressing his disappointment that Hamilton qualified third when he had a pole winning car, at least according to Dennis.
Then, for those of you who don’t believe in F1, try these numbers on for size.
F1 Boss-for-Life Bernie Ecclestone said there are six countries standing in line to get a race on the calendar, the bi-weekly Super Bowl spectacle is that important globally.
And before you say the U.S. doesn’t care, I’ve learned that out of 206 sponsors in F1 fully 60 percent are headquartered in the U.S.
So the U.S. most certainly does care about F1, especially those who want to do business beyond the corner bodega.
It leads me to ask: if you don’t care about F1, what’s soured your grits?
Peace.
